A Place of Recovery, Community & Hope
The White House is a safe, sober gathering place for AA meetings, Al‑Anon Family Groups, social events, and fellowship in the heart of Des Moines.
A Home for Recovery in Des Moines
The White House Alano Club is a nonprofit club that provides social and recreational activities for recovering alcoholics and their families in a clean, sober environment. We are not a treatment center — we’re a community gathering space.
We maintain the headquarters at 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue — known as “The White House” — as a welcoming home for AA meetings, Al‑Anon Family Groups, social events, and fellowship. Our doors are open to anyone seeking recovery or supporting a loved one in recovery.
The Alano Society, Inc. exists under the laws of the State of Iowa and operates entirely through the voluntary efforts and contributions of its members.
“The Alano Society was developed to be able to own a place for Al‑Anon and AA to meet.”The Alano Society, Inc. — Founded 1977
